Boston University recently published a study in the American Journal of Hypertension. Their Study consisted of tracking 1,361 people’s blood pressure for a decade and found that people who consumed about 102 grams of protein per day from plant and animal sources consistently had the lowest blood pressure of the study population. They also had 40% lower risk of developing hypertension  compared to the people who only consumed about 58 grams of protein per day.

The author of the study states that when you consume more protein you are less likely to eat high-calorie foods and salty fast foods, which helps leads to beneficial metabolic outcomes.  Protein also has capabilities to tame you’re blood pressure. For instance, the amino acids in protein can help dilate your blood vessels allowing blood to flow more easily.

This study proves that a healthy, balanced diet is the best way to keep healthy. You’ll get enough of protein with a balanced diet, which in turn will keep your blood pressure at a stable rate.
