Samir has officially completed 3 of his 8 marathons with extra compressed weights equal to a 73.5 lbs weighted vest! His fourth marathon is TODAY in Navarro, TX at the I Ran Marathons race.

Becic will be running 8 full Marathons in an 8-week time frame between January 14, 2018, and March 11, 2018, wearing compressed weights equivalent to 73.5 pounds weighted vest. When the 73.5-pound vest is multiplied by 1.6 to make it equivalent to human weight, it equals 117.6 pounds. With Becic weighing in at 215 pounds, the total load on his body will equal 332.6 pounds.

Samir started his mega challenge with the Houston Marathon and will finish with his final marathon being the “I Ran Flagships Marathons Bosnia and Herzegovina” trail marathon in Navarro, Texas.

Becic completed the full 26.2-mile Chevron Houston Marathon on January 14th, 2018, wearing a compressed weighted vest and shorts equivalent to 73.5 pounds or an 118 lbs living body. He ran the marathon in 5:52.48 and his live updates can be seen here. Last Saturday, he completed his second marathon in Dallas, and his live updates can be seen here. His third marathon in Sugarland, TX, he ran in 5:48.38. He hopes to improve on his time with each race.

Marathon #4 is happening NOW! Check in here for live updates of Samir’s progress in the I Ran Marathons in San Antonio, Texas as we post Facebook Live videos and pictures as it’s taking place:

Mile 24.5:

The heat is getting to Samir as he gets closer to the finish line. It’s sunny and in the high 70s in San Antonio, but Samir feels like it’s almost 100 degreese outside. Nevertheless, he’s not giving up and will finish his last couple miles!

Mile 23:

We know that when Samir sees his family, he gets renewed energy! Watch him sweetly greet his son, Max as he rehydrates for the remainder of the marathon

Mile 22:

Samir is having to speed walk the remainder of the marathon, but he is NOT giving up and will finish the race!

Mile 21.5:

Samir is in some pain and there is substantial swelling on his knee and foot. The support team has suggested he stop but he told them there is NO STOPPING, that his cause is bigger and more important than just the race. Stay strong for the last 5 miles, Samir!

Mile 16:

Samir has two injuries, his left knee and left ankle, that both have significant swelling. The medical team there has advised him to stop, but he’s decided to finish out the marathon by speed walking and jogging slowly. Even though he’s in pain, he’s still touting the importance of healthy lifestyle and taking small steps every day to improve physically, mentally, and intellectually.

Mile 15:

It’s getting hot out there but Samir is staying strong! Tweet him some words of encouragement and support: @samirbecic

Half-Marathon Mile 13.1:

Samir just completed half of the marathon with a time of 2:37! His body is starting to hurt and his left knee is bothering him. It’s starting to get hot, and although it’s 75 degrees right now, it feels like it’s 95 degrees to Samir, whose compressed weights are not breathable and raise his body temperature. He took some time to remind everyone why he is doing this challenge, which is to raise obesity awareness. Listen to his wise words:

Mile 11:

Samir is doing great so far! His wife, Dijana, captured these great bird’s eye view shots of Samir blazing by on his run!

Mile 8:

Samir is still doing great at Mile 8! The temperature is rising in San Antonio, but he is not letting it affect his positive energy.

Mile 5:

Samir has made it to Mile 5 and his son joins him for some extra motivation. Keep it up Samir!

Starting Line:

Samir is pumped to be almost halfway done with his feat of running 8 marathons in 8 weeks!

Marathon #4 is about to begin!
