Houston’s own health and news anchor Melissa Wilson of FOX 26 has been named Health Fitness Revolution’s Houston Woman of the Year 2014.
As a health news anchor, Wilson promotes a healthy lifestyle to Houstonians by responding to hundreds of emails that viewers send with questions on the topic of health, fitness and nutrition.
When she is not bringing the latest news to the city of Houston, this mother of two can be found giving her time to charities and various other social events and fundraisers, and taking care of her youngest son while he undergoes treatment for leukemia, a battle that he has fought for 18 months. That kind of dedication and care is a great example of the power of a mother’s love and the strength it can bring to a child.
And somehow, amidst all the time she spends working and caring for her family, she still manages to find time to make her own health and fitness a priority with regular weekly workouts and a nutritious diet. Not many people with schedules as busy as hers could find the time – or energy – to get daily exercise. But Wilson does, and that is why she was chosen as HFR’s Houston Woman of the Year 2014. She is fit, healthy and exudes positive energy to everyone she meets.
“Melissa Wilson is an inspiration as a professional, a mother, and a role model for all Houstonians for how talent, hard work, integrity and dedication can make all things possible,” said Samir Becic, founder of Health Fitness Revolution.
Wilson serves as a positive role model for the women of Houston and America to look up to. She was previously named to HFR’s Top Fittest News Anchors in Houston.
