In honor of International Women’s Day, Samir Becic spoke at Women of Now’s Light Up The World 2016 Hall of Fame Ceremony. Women of Now founder Donna McGowan organized and hosted the wonderful event. The conference aimed to empower women in business and in their personal lives. The conference took place at the historic Wortham Theatre in downtown Houston’s Theatre District on March 7th.
At the conference Samir’s speech offered tips on being healthy and fit into your 70s and 80s. Becic reminded the audience that longevity of life needs to be coupled with quality of life, and both can be improved through a healthy lifestyle. He also talked about the danger of type 2 diabetes and what can be done to prevent it.
Women of NOW
Becic said that the conference was dynamic and interesting, with many well-respected community leaders and speakers. Conference organizer Donna McGowan did an amazing job at making this event a great success. Famous TV celebrities, preachers, and leaders attended the event.
The Women of Now Light Up the World Conference featured a series of speeches and social events aimed at striking a balance between professional and personal lives. U.S. Congresswoman Shiela Jackson Lee was present, honoring the leaders and speakers at the event.
A number of women were also inducted into the Women of Now Hall of Fame. Inductees such as Bravo’s Jewel Tankard received the honor for the following criteria:
“The honorees are women beacon lights of change and impact others to light up, often surpassing the criteria of: achieving personal excellence, a reputation for mentoring and exceptional leadership, a heart of philanthropy and a leader in their industry that seems to be continually transforming, and lighting the way for others.”
