A Night in Anatevka by Stavis and Cohen

A Night in Anatevka was a beautiful evening event organized on Monday, April 25th, by Stavis and Cohen, a Houston-based, private wealth management firm with decades of combined experience to deliver a powerful combination of high tech and high touch planning to help multi-generational families manage the complexities of their wealth.

The event was in honor of The Holocaust Museum Houston‘s 2022 Lyndon Baines Johnson Moral Courage Award Dinner and “Voices for Ukraine”. Charged with educating students and the public about the dangers of prejudice and hatred in society, Holocaust Museum Houston opened its doors in March of 1996. Since that time, impassioned notes, poems, artwork, and other gifts, from school children and adults alike, attest to the life-changing thoughts generated by just one visit to this unique facility. Their 2022 Lyndon Baines Johnson Moral Courage Award Dinner will be held May 17, 2022, honoring Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg (posthumously) and featuring Emmy and Tony Award-Winning Actress and Singer Kristin Chenoweth.

A wonderful cast of Broadway performers and a pianist gave a mesmerizing presentation of “Fiddler on the Roof” in both Yiddish and English. Kayleen Seidl, Evan Mayer, and Bruce Sabbath were breathtaking in their heartwarming performances held at a private residence, giving audience members an intimate rendition of a Broadway Classic.

Our founder Samir Becic was invited by personal friend Kyle McCully, Chief Business Development Officer for Stavis & Cohen. He’s thankful for being included in such a memorable evening filled with entertainment and good conversation. Samir Becic, and his wife Professor Dijana Handanovic, who both understand Yiddish, thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

The causes that this evening supported are so important to preserving the vibrancy of the Houston and Jewish community. Memorial museums help protect the dignity of the victims from all forms of exploitation and to ensure, beyond conventional history lessons, that the interpretation of political events inspires critical, independent thinking about the past.
