Houston, TX, August 20, 2025 – In partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bosnian Americans in Texas have reached a notable milestone by delivering the official BiH flag to the Texas Secretary of State’s office. For the first time, the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be displayed in the esteemed halls of this state institution.
This symbolic act signifies more than cultural pride; it marks the start of a nationwide initiative. The objective is clear: by November 25, 2025 – Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Statehood Day – every U.S. state should receive and display the official BiH flag.
Samir Becic, Houston’s own Fitness Czar and organizer of the campaign, emphasized the importance of the effort: “The flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina flying in state institutions across America symbolizes our heritage and contribution to American society. We call upon Bosnian Americans from every state to join this campaign. In the next 90 days, we can ensure that Bosnia and Herzegovina is proudly represented in all corners of the United States.”
A Call to Action for the Bosnian Diaspora
The campaign encourages Bosnian Americans nationwide to actively participate by reaching out to local state offices, coordinating flag deliveries, and sharing updates within the community—especially as the 30th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Accords approaches. Organizers invite everyone interested to message directly or comment on community channels to help coordinate efforts.
This initiative aimed to strengthen the bonds between Bosnia and Herzegovina and its diaspora, underscoring the role of Bosnian Americans in fostering cultural diplomacy and national identity abroad, particularly with the United States.
