LIVE UPDATES: Samir’s Fifth EXTREME Marathon/ Fight Against Obesity in Austin, TX

Samir has officially completed 4 of his 8 marathons with extra compressed weights equal to a 73.5 lbs weighted vest! His fifth marathon is TODAY in Austin, TX at the Austin Marathon.

Becic will be running 8 full Marathons in an 8-week time frame between January 14, 2018, and March 11, 2018, wearing compressed weights equivalent to 73.5 pounds weighted vest. When the 73.5-pound vest is multiplied by 1.6 to make it equivalent to human weight, it equals 117.6 pounds. With Becic weighing in at 215 pounds, the total load on his body will equal 332.6 pounds.

Samir started his mega challenge with the Houston Marathon and will finish with his final marathon being the “I Ran Flagships Marathons Bosnia and Herzegovina” trail marathon.

Becic completed the full 26.2-mile Chevron Houston Marathon on January 14th, 2018, wearing a compressed weighted vest and shorts equivalent to 73.5 pounds or an 118 lbs living body. He ran the marathon in 5:52.48 and his live updates can be seen here. Last Saturday, he completed his second marathon in Dallas, and his live updates can be seen here. His third marathon in Sugarland, TX, he ran in 5:48.38. His fourth marathon was in San Antonio.

Mile 26.2 FINISH LINE:

Samir is feeling great physically and mentally as he finishes up marathon #5 of 8. We are so proud of you Samir, you’re a rockstar!

Mile 17:

Samir is in great spirits at Mile 17! He’s enjoying the city of Austin and has noticed how dynamic and fit the population is. He says his knees are OK at this point but his left ankle is starting to swell.

 

Half Marathon Mile 13.1:

Samir is half-way through the marathon and is in good spirits! While he says the hills are tough, he acknowledges that his cause of raising obesity awareness is bigger, and he cannot complain. Tweet @samirbecic some support as he finishes the second half of the toughest marathon in Texas!

Mile 7:

Samir is going strong at mile 7! It’s hilly, and it’s also raining lightly- so Samir’s wet clothes are adding an addition 7-8 lbs to his already extra weighted vest! His spirits are high as he reminds every one of his cause of raising obesity awareness.

 

Start of the Race:

Samir is amped up and ready for this fifth marathon in Austin, TX! The crowd’s energy is palpable as he exclaims “It’s showtime!”
