Houston’s official “fitness czar” Samir Becic, together with his Health Fitness Revolution team, have created a special tab on the HFR site with articles specifically written on ways to remain healthy and fit while facing social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. There are over 40 articles available that cater to people’s Coronavirus needs- health, fitness, education, safety, and entertainment. So far, over 500,000 people have read the articles on our website and multiple news outlets around the world have republished them.

Across the nation, we all partaking in some social distance due to the spread of the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. Recreational centers, fitness franchises, and fitness classes are being canceled, but the media should be highlighting ways for people to stay active at home.

With so little known of the novel Coronavirus, and a vaccine not yet available, the best thing we can do to combat it is making our immune systems as robust as possible! Along with getting enough sleep, being diligent in washing your hands with soap and water, and having a nutrient-dense diet, and taking the appropriate supplements, being active can help boost your immune system.

Last month, Samir wrote out a list of ways to strengthen the immune system:

  • If you have current health ailments please try to remediate them ASAP. That way, the virus will have less effect on you, even if you contract it.
  • For the elder population, boost your immune system to the max with supplements: garlic, zinc, magnesium, vitamins (C, B, D, + E), Omega-3s, elderberry
  • Drink lots of water to flush out the toxins
  • Get enough sleep to boost your immune system and regenerate your body
  • Eat anti-inflammatory foods such as ginger, turmeric, citrus fruits, berries, olive oil
  • Exercise regularly- this can be done at home, the key is moving your body and getting the blood flowing
  • Stay away from foods that cause inflammation such as alcohol, artificial food additives, sugar, white flours, trans fats…
  • Focus on eating immune-boosting foods: leafy greens, fresh vegetables and fruits, garlic
  • Most importantly: wash your hands, avoid large crowds, avoid contact with people who are sick, get some sunlight
  • P.S. There are many indicators that the obese population is more susceptible and has a more difficult recovery but instilling healthy habits can boost the immune system immediately

Exercise is one of the best ways to keep your immune system strong to combat illnesses and keep your body healthy. Exercise is also the top method to decrease stress and anxiety levels, which is needed during these stressful times.

HFR founder and Houston’s “fitness Czar” Samir Becic is encouraging the media to spread some positive and proactive tips to Americans and highlight ways everyone can be more active at home.

Please note to exercise at a lower intensity – recent studies have shown that there are physiological changes in the immune system as a response to exercise. During moderate exercise, immune cells circulate through the body more quickly and are better able to kill bacteria and viruses. But above all, don’t let a quarantine lower your spirit and determination to live a happier and healthier life!
