When it comes to diet, the self-proclaimed Liver King, Brian Johnson, pushed a false narrative to his followers.

The muscular TikTok star amassed millions of followers by promoting an “ancestral” diet of beef brains, bull testicles, and raw animal livers. But recently, Johnson posted a different kind of viral video — an apology. He admitted to taking anabolic steroids, something which he had repeatedly denied in the past. The confessional video has been viewed more than 2.7 million times on YouTube.

Houston’s Official “Fitness Czar“, 4 x #1 Fitness Trainer in America, author of the HarperCollins book “ReSync Your Life”, and true health and fitness expert Samir Becic took to Twitter to speak out against the Liver King’s behavior and false marketing tactics.

In his Twitter thread, Samir openly discusses how lying to people is further fueling the obesity epidemic.

“When I came to America 22 years ago, my fitness focus was the betterment of humanity by going into every segment of society and making a positive impact: corporations, schools, non-profits, all the way to religious institutions, and homeless shelters.

I was also performing extreme fitness challenges (with no shortcuts) in an effort to motivate Americans to get active. This was my part in the fight against the obesity epidemic which reached a historic high of 42%. People like #LiverKing and #DrOz are a big part of the problem.

It saddens me that we live in a society where you can only get national attention by acting like a caricature. People like Liver King make millions of dollars based on lies, false promises, disappointing thousands, and breaking the law without consequences. This has to STOP!

This kind of extreme behavior without consequences is a breeding ground for excusing other forms of extremism, which is on the rise both in our country and globally. Anti-science and post-truth reasoning are elements that threaten democracy, analytical thinking, and logic.

In order for America to successfully fight obesity, we cannot idolize shortcuts, lies, and empty promises fed to us by people who got famous by acting like pseudo health “experts” and who had U.S. Senate hearings for selling “miracles” in a bottle and “magic” pills.”
