Since sending an urgent call-to-action to American corporations regarding incorporating more employee wellness, Samir Becic has gotten many positive responses from Fortune 500 companies. This week, he got a response from IBM’s Vice President and Chief Medical Officer Lydia Campbell who responded on behalf of CEO Arvind Krishna, whom Samir contacted earlier this month. In the correspondence, Dr. Campbell highlighted IBM’s impressive list of employee health and wellness benefits and ensured that the international company is always on the lookout for innovative, evidence-based well-being services for their employees. She also thanked Samir for his dedication to fitness, stating “Your passion for health and fitness is admirable and I congratulate you on your achievements so far.

Every aspect of health is important to Houston’s “Fitness Czar” Samir Becic. Earlier this year, when Samir read the CDC’s shocking updated statistic that the U.S. adult obesity rate stands at 42.4 percent, he knew he had to take drastic actions with his fitness campaigns in 2022. This is the first time in history that the national rate has passed the 40% mark and further evidence of the country’s obesity crisis. So Samir decided to put pen to paper and write 647 letters to the CEOs of the biggest companies in America, urging them to make changes within their corporations that can contribute to Americans’ health: incentivizing physical activity and access to more education on the nutritional value of foods to their employees.

Samir is grateful for the positive response he received from IBM, and he commends the company for its rigorous employee benefits programs “Congratulations to IBM CEO Arvind Krishna and Vice President & Chief Medical Officer Lydia Campbell for having such advanced fitness and wellness programs available for their employees. Based on the information provided, they are a strong candidate for Health Fitness Revolution’s list of the ‘Top 10 Fittest Fortune 500 Companies in America’” says Becic.

Per Dr. Campbell’s e-mail, IBM has been focused on the health, safety, and wellbeing of their employees as a top priority for decades.  They have and continue to run comprehensive programs addressing all the pillars of health and wellbeing. Here are some great ways IBM is promoting health and wellness to their employees within the U.S.:
• In-house specialists who develop content on physical fitness and nutrition and frequently engage with employees both virtually and face to face.
• In-house psychologists who run sessions with managers on varied topics like building resilience, coping with stress, and enhancing wellbeing.
• Vendor partners that support IBM with the following services: employee assistance program, resilience and stress management, expert medical opinion, and preventive health checks.

Samir’s 2022 Fitness campaign doesn’t just touch on corporate America, since the start of 2022, Samir has sent 500 letters to prominent Texas politicians to bring awareness to the ongoing issue of obesity, the 100 Mayors of the largest cities in America, all 50 Governors, and 500 school districts throughout America. In addition to his ongoing Fitness campaign, Samir is sending 2000 of his HarperCollins published “ReSync Your Life” books to the leading politicians in America; Governors, Senators, Congresspeople, and Mayors. He’s already sent dedicated books to the 36 U.S. Congressmembers that represent Texas, the 20 “Fittest Politicians in America”, the 40 “Fittest U.S. Representatives“, the 20 “Fittest Senators“, the 20 “Fittest Mayors in America“, the 10 “Fittest Governors“, and 2 U.S. Senators that represent Texas!
