Jack Ma: The Tai Chi Master

Health Fitness Revolution is the first magazine in the world that ranks billionaires on health and fitness, and how they promote healthy lifestyle within their companies. In case you weren’t already aware, Jack Ma is the boss! Not only is he the founder and chairman of Alibaba, one of the world’s largest online commerce websites, but he’s also an inspiration worldwide. Ma is the definition of starting from the bottom and achieving greatness, with success in his personal and professional life. Here are the reasons why Jack Ma is not only a billionaire but also a fitness/Tai Chi inspiration. He is the first billionaire outside of our United States list that we are profiling in our magazine.

During college, Ma struggled with passing college exams and faced many trials of failure before reaching his $506 billion success at Alibaba, according to Wikipedia. After finally graduating college, he struggled with finding a job and was not able to land many interviews. Instead of giving up, Ma decided to fight back against his failures and went for what he wanted. Not only is he passionate about his work, but also emphasizes the importance of health and fitness into his daily routine, even at the office. Ma offers a variety of healthy restaurants at his Alibaba campus for employees, as well as state of the art gyms and basketball courts. He has gone above expectations to provide his employees with all the means necessary to make sure they are living a healthy life.

Ma also practices martial arts with his assistant, mainly focusing on a Chen-style Tai Chi Chuan. In 2009, Ma practiced with Wáng Xī’an, a well known martial arts master and teacher. In 2011, he hired several tournament-winning Tai Chi players to teach the art at Alibaba. Ma’s vision is that “one day people will remember him above all as a Tai Chi master, rather than solely as the founder of China’s largest internet company and online shopping website”.

Following his love of Tai Chi, Ma is also starring in a movie called Gong Shou Dao, or The Art of Attack and Defence, set to come out November 11th, 2017. The movie will feature martial arts legends Jet Li, Donnie Yen and Sammo Hung Kam-bo, in addition to Wu Jing, whose Wolf Warrior II reset box office records in China.

Samir Becic, HarperCollins author of ReSYNC Your Life “I truly believe that in the 21st century, in order to excel in the world, you have to be healthy and fit! Jack Ma, you will be remembered not only as a Tai Chi master, but also as one of the fittest and healthiest businessmen in the world”.

Health Fitness Revolution is known worldwide for ranking the fittest heads of states, the list that makes worldwide news every year upon its release. Our 2018 list is coming soon.
